Kara Weaves was founded by mother-daughter duo Indu Menon and Chitra Gopalakrishna in their home state of Kerala, in south west India. They present home textiles are contemporary, practical and beautiful — each product is made from ancient local fabrics hand-made at traditional wooden looms.

Working with co-operatives to create their signature fair-trade handwoven textiles, they’ve breathed new life into an ancient local custom and brought much-needed growth to this craft. Guided by practical needs and their own households, their focus is on multi-functional, practical and long-lasting products. This all-women partnership is WBE certified and a member of the Fair Trade Federation of India
