The brand reflects founder Aman Khanna’s ethos of being present in time and space through his material of choice: clay. A graphic designer and illustrator, Aman is a self-taught ceramicist and sees it as a medium that allows communication on many levels. “Clay is a simple, everyday material used by everyone. It is omnipresent and yet individual in the way one uses it. In time, the clay dissolves back into the Earth.”
Each claymen piece is made in-house in the airy, open production studio at the rear of the studio. This is where the signature figures and functional objects like cups, carafes and vases are formed and glazed by hand.
The studio is located in the Dhan Mill complex in Chattarpur, New Delhi, a creative hub that hosts stylish boutiques, studios, cafes and restaurants in a sprawl of buildings that stored grain in a previous incarnation. It is now a hub for an experiential take on design, culture and creativity, all set within the context of a hip warehouse aesthetic.
This beautifully curated space invites careful exploration to uncover its many details: unusual vignettes, imaginative forms and unique talent are what you discovers at every step.
Creativity is a very personal form of expression, and the claymen studio allows one to be immersed in a unique cosmos of contemplation, quiet and wry humour for the duration of a visit.
