The New Delhi-based designer Aman Khanna creates beautiful, timeless pieces from clay—

A parat is an object traditionally used in India for a number of daily rituals, from collecting flowers for morning prayer to kneading dough. It has been beautifully re-invented in high-quality black Bheslana marble that beautifully striated with white and grey. Its proportions make it an extremely versatile and stylish piece for the home: use as a fruit bowl, a serving dish or simply an objet d’art. Crafted by hand and made entirely of marble, each piece is completely unique.

Inspired by two cultures, the Chakla has a unique form: its circular shape is inspired by the Indian chakla and belan - a small platform and rolling pin combination - used to make flat breads while the handle has it’s origin in wooden European cheese boards. Made of black slate, a fine-grained naturally-occurring rock, the slightly concave surface reveals the many layers of formation of the material. Generously proportioned and crafted by hand, it makes a stylish and versatile accessory for the kitchen and dining table. The material and manufacturing technique ensure each piece is completely unique.
